Kids in Bluegrass

I've been making a visit to the Missoula Wheat Montana Deli on Tuesday evenings to watch the kids bluegrass open mic. This is something that by good friend, Raynae Redman, initiated. She and her band Cuzin Ray, have a regular gig at the Deli where they play for a dedicated group of fans each week.

Raynae's grandkids and a lot of her music students have been down to play for the audience and cheer each other on. Last week a took a few pictures to post her on my BLOG. Hopefully this blog will be of interest to someone and maybe someone will even post a comment.

It's so cool to see the kids hangin' out playing bluegrass together and teaching each other new licks. My 8-yr old grandson, Brevlin's learning to play the guitar. He's been coming with me to watch the other kids play in front of the mic and seems very inspired by it all. He's even started learning some bluegrass tunes in preperation for his big debut down there.

What a great thing that Raynae has done for the kids in getting this started. for getting this started. I hope it will continue for a long ling time. A big thanks is also due the folks at Wheat Montana for their support of Bluegrass music.

Here's a video of Caleb on banjo and Jesse on fiddle, our up and coming local bluegrass stars!

The open mic happens every Tuesday from 5:30-6pm.
